New Customs

One of my brothers works in retail in a different state from the rest of the family, so in January, we held our Christmas celebration, which included a present exchange between us kids and our significant others. For my youngest brother's girlfriend at the time, I did a custom of her beloved cat, Moochi. Moochi was made from a G3 fakie. She was painted all over in artist model acrylics based off of the photos I had of the cat. Due to the way the tail was originally done on the fakie, I decided to go ahead and reroot it the same way in "Roasted Almond" nylon hair. The pony didn't quite look right, so at my husband's suggestion, I finished off by rerooting a very short mane in platinum silky kanekalon to match the creamy fur found on parts of the cat.

Allsgoodtrading and I arranged a private custom swap between us, and she liked my Year of the Dragon ponies so much, she wanted one of her own. This dragon pony was made from a Pretty Pop. She was rehaired in a mix of nylon Dollyhair in "After Midnight" and "Forget-me-not," with the hair running all over the head in a mane and as a ridge down her back. Long whiskers run from her face and tufts of hair also jut from around the joints in her limbs. Her Chinese dragon symbol was done in high quality model acrylics, as were her green eyes and the character for dragon done on one hoof.

Now a couple from custom swaps that haven't arrived at their new owner's yet (because they're currently sitting on my desk waiting to be shipped). These are only being revealed here for now, because neither person reads my LJ.

The Pokemon swap on the Arena was another swap I joined, with Ninetales for Ranchlamb the result. Ninetales was made from a Bowtie and handpainted a creamy ivory all over with just a bit of texturing to suggest fur. Her eyes were painted a deep reddish brown. She was rehaired in platinum colored silky kanekalon. Her most stunning feature, however, is her nine tails. Thanks to Bladespark, I was able to get some fur the perfect cream color I wanted. Each was faintly dyed in spots with orange to hint at the pokemon's fiery nature. After they were stuffed, they were attached to the pony with wire. The wire runs through the middle of each tail, allowing them some flexibility to be posed. They are rather overwhelming on the pony, but that is the case with Ninetales the pokemon also, which is based off of the many-tailed kitsune, fox spirits of Japan. It works out quite well.

Red XIII was made for AeraCura for a video game swap on the Arena. He was based off the character of the same name from Final Fantasy VII. The design I used was from the video game as opposed to the that from the movie Advent Children, as I thought the style of realism from that would not translate to a pony nearly as well.
Red XIII was made from the body of a Lullabelle and the head of a fakie. Ironically, Lullabelle's head had previously been used in the making of Cloud Strife, another FFVII character. He was changed from pony to cat-thing using Apoxie Sculpt and Fixit Sculpt, and then painted with a variety of high quality model acrylics. His leg bands were also accented with gold leafing.
